PCV Valve Inspection and Replacement

Identifying the Issue

The first step in resolving the P0101 code is to inspect the PCV valve. If you find an orange-colored PCV valve, it’s imperative to replace it. Refer to Figure A for guidance on locating and assessing the PCV valve.

PCV Valve Replacement Procedure

  1. Open the engine hood and locate the PCV valve.
    • Note: An engine cover may need removal for better access.
  2. If the PCV valve is orange, proceed to replace it.
    • See PARTS INFORMATION for details.
    • Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section EC-Engine Control System, for PCV valve replacement information.

ECM Reprogramming

Moving forward, it’s crucial to determine if the ECM (Engine Control Module) requires reprogramming. Follow the steps below:

  1. Check the vehicle’s ECM part number (P/N).
    • Refer to step 6 and Table A in the SERVICE PROCEDURE section for detailed instructions.
  2. If applicable, reprogram the ECM using CONSULT-III plus (C-III plus).
    • Ensure compliance with Idle Air Volume Learn (IAVL) conditions as outlined in Figure B.

Note: Thoroughly follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE to ensure a successful repair. Keep in mind that Nissan Bulletins are designed for use by qualified technicians.
